FIAT is making a BeatsAudio sound system available on its popular 500 hatchback series with the arrival of a sporty S model.

The new 500S comes with extra body kit, a new-look cockpit and features Fiat's Uconnect infotaintment system with a seven-inch full colour display screen as standard.

Priced from £12,950 the 500S is fitted with sports seats, a TFT instrument panel and a sports steering wheel.

Outside, the sporty theme is continued with side skirts, a rear spoiler and sports bumpers as well as new-look 15-inch alloy wheels and satin-finish exterior detailing.

The 500S also comes with front fog lamps, tinted rear windows, a chrome-finish tailpipe, black-grained front air intakes and a honeycomb grille.

The seven-speaker 440W Beats audio system is making its Fiat debut on the 500S and is a £300 extra.

Developed in conjunction with Beats by Dr Dre, the high end set up uses a digital amplifier and equalisation system which is claimed to recreate the sound spectrum experienced during studio recording.

Other extras being offered on the 500S include a TomTom sat nav at £250, a black finished roof at £225, 16-inch alloys for £200 and a leather interior for an extra £850.

The entry-level 500S comes with Fiat's 69bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine and the car is also available with the 0.9-litre TwinAir two-cylinder engine priced from £14,250 for the 85bhp version or £14,730 for the more powerful TwinAir 105bhp model.

Fiat's super-economical 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel is also available in the 500S priced from £15,350. With emissions of 89g/km it has an official fuel return of more than 80 miles per gallon.
