THE UK's biggest leisure vehicle event, the Motorhome and Caravan Show, has opened its doors at the NEC in Birmingham.

Visitors flocked to explore the 11 halls of the show which features almost 400 exhibitors, including some of the industry's biggest names such as Swift, Bailey, Elddis, Lunar, Coachman and Adria.

The show sees many of the top brands unveil their new for 2017 products for the first time, giving the public a chance to see them in the flesh.

A particular highlight is the UK debut of the Morelo Empire Liner - a huge motorhome almost the size of a truck.

Starting from £350,000 and featuring a built in garage, panoramic glass roof, rain shower and heated flooring the Empire Liner is at the peak of leisure vehicle luxury.

Visitors have the opportunity to get behind the wheel and take part in a complimentary motorhome manoeuvring activity courtesy of The Caravan Club, as well as caravan towing sessions in association with Jeep.

For thrill seekers, Visit Wales have brought the outdoors, indoors by providing an Augmented Reality experience of Europe's largest zip-wire. This features a journey across the Welsh countryside, hitting speeds of up to 100mph whilst soaring at over 500 feet whilst keeping your feet firmly on the ground.

The industry has been enjoying an upward trajectory of year-on-year leisure vehicle sales, with the NCC reporting a 15 per cent rise in motorhome sales in 2016, following on from last year's success when motorhome registrations rose by 21 per cent.

With over one million leisure vehicles in use, the industry contributes over £6 billion to the UK economy through sales, services.

The show is open daily until Sunday, with tickets available on the door priced at £11 for seniors, £12 for adults and children go free.
