THIS is the new Nissan Qashqai crossover making its debut at the Geneva International Motor Show.

It goes on sale in Europe in July and comes with upgrades to its looks and specification with higher levels of interior quality and improved driving performance.

The new Qashqai will be available with Nissan's ProPILOT autonomous driving capability which controls steering, acceleration and braking in a single lane on highways. This will give drivers more control and greater freedom in heavy traffic congestion and while high-speed cruising.

New is the range-topping Tekna+ grade, including new seats trimmed in high-quality soft nappa leather. Also new is a D-shaped multi-function steering wheel with satin-chrome inserts.

The Nissan Connect infotainment system, complete with DAB digital radio and satellite navigation, now features a smart new user interface.

From the outside the new Qashqai has a completely revised front and the bumper and clam-shell bonnet are new. It also has adaptive front lighting which improves night-time safety.

The new Qashaqai retains its class-leading low drag coefficient of 0.31, and continues as thw segment leader on C02 emission with 99g/km from the 1.5-litre dCi 110 diesel.

Safety features include emergency braking, pedestrian recognition and rear cross traffic alert.

The car continues to be offered with traffic sign recognition, driver attention, park assist, around view monitor, blind spot warning and lane departure warning.
