Hyundai reveals i30
HYUNDAI'S new generation i30 Tourer model will hit UK streets next week with an entry level price tag of £17,495.
The Tourer estate follows on from the hatchback variant in offering a high level of standard safety kit, with the likes of lane departure and forward collision warning systems, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking and hill start assist on all models.
Standard technology and connectivity equipment also feature with DAB and Bluetooth included, regardless of trim grade.
The Korean manufacturer says the new car will also include considerable luggage space, with a competitive in class size of 602 litres with the rear seats in place and 1,650 litres with them lowered.
Prices are from £17,495 for the i30 Tourer S 1.0 T-GDi 120PS 6 speed manual, which offers 15-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, DAB radio with USB and aux connections, Bluetooth with steering wheel controls, electric front and rear windows and driver seat height adjustment.
Specific to the Tourer are a cargo screen and safety barrier net.
The flagship Tourer Premium SE costs £24,155 and offers a panoramic sunroof, leather seat facings and a heated steering wheel in addition to an extensive list of goodies and is available with a 1.4 T-GDi 140PS petrol engine with 6 speed manual and 7 speed DCT transmission as well as a 1.6 CRDi 110PS diesel with 6 speed manual, or a 1.6 CRDi 136PS with 7 speed DCT transmission.
Ten colours are up for grabs and all specifications have a standard black interior, with slate grey available as a no cost option on Premium SE models.
Hyundai's UK chief Tony Whitehorn said: "Previous generation i30 Tourer models accounted for just over 10 per cent of total i30 sales; however our expectations are that New Generation i30 Tourer will achieve much closer to a 20 per cent share.
"This increase is driven by a number of factors - as well as the obvious benefits of a comprehensive suite of standard safety equipment and a high specification at all trim levels, New Generation i30 Tourer is also financially well positioned, with S trim level over £1500 less than the previous generation's starting price."
