NISSAN has revealed the latest in the line of its Z sport performance cars with the arrival of the upgraded 370Z with a starting price of £29,185.

The sleek coupe comes with a contemporary new look to its classic design including black door handles, a black rear bumper facia and dark-tinted headlamps and rear combination lights - previously available only on the NISMO model.

It also has 19-inch alloy wheels and a new red metallic exterior body colour is available, although not on the high performance NISMO cars.

Each model - from the original through the 280ZX and 300ZX, to the reborn 350Z and today's 370Z - can be recognised by a distinctive long bonnet and short rear overhang.

Nissan has also tied up with performance brand EXEDY to integrate a new high-performance clutch into manual versions of the new 370Z which aids the downshift and reduces driver pedal effort.

The 370Z retains all the features which have made it popular with performance car enthusiasts. Power comes from a 3.7-litre 328bhp V6 engine driving the rear wheels via a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic transmission.

The 370Z remains the only sports car in this price range to offer Syncro Rev Control - the world's first fully synchronised down/up shift rev control system on a manual transmission.

The new coupe comes with a NissanConnect premium infotainment system, featuring a seven-inch touch-screen, sat nav, DVD player and rear view camera which are standard on GT grade as well as on the 370Z NISMO.

As before, the classic Z-car interior is dominated by a simple three-spoke steering wheel and three circular gauges.

Ryan Gains, chief marketing manager for mid-range models and sports cars for Nissan Europe, said: "For nearly half a century, Nissan's Z-car series has built a cult following with sports car fans with a passion for performance and quality. The Nissan 370Z MY18 remains true to this legacy, further elevating driving dynamics and classic design to new levels."
