NISSAN has unveiled the new Nissan Leaf in Europe, the next generation of the world's best-selling zero-emissions electric vehicle.

The company says the new model offers greater range, dynamic design, advanced driver assistance technologies and enhanced connectivity.

The latest Leaf, which will be built at Nissan's UK factory in Sunderland, has an improved range of 235 miles on a single charge, allowing drivers to enjoy longer journeys, interconnected by the extended European CHAdeMO Quick Charging network.

It also comes with a new e-powertrain which will deliver 110kW of power output and 320Nm of torque, improving acceleration and driver enjoyment.

The new Leaf is packed with new technology, including the ProPILOT advanced driver assistance system which uses the steering, braking and acceleration to assist the driver within single lane, low speed traffic and highway cruising scenarios.

In slow moving traffic it enables the new Leaf to slow down and stop automatically where traffic flow ceases. It will then start to follow the car in front when the flow resumes. Also included is Nissan's ProPILOT Park system for fully autonomous parking.

The new Leaf's revolutionary technology also includes something Nissan has called an e-Pedal which transforms the way people drive by letting them start, accelerate, decelerate and stop - simply by increasing or decreasing the pressure applied to the accelerator

Interior features have been redesigned including a new seven-inch full-colour display unit. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have also been integrated for enhanced connectivity.

A special version, the Nissan Leaf 2.ZERO limited edition, is now on sale and is the first model in Europe to be fully equipped with Nissan's ProPILOT technology.

It is priced at £26,490 including the government grant for electric vehicles and with production now under way at Sunderland will be delivered from the beginning of 2018.
