Rock star's Porsche
up for grabs
A PORSCHE 911 owned by Judas Priest lead guitar player Glenn Tipton is expected to fetch up to £220,000 when it goes under the hammer at auction.
The 1985 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo SE has been owned by Tipton from new and holds a place in rock history as the inspiration for the platinum-selling album Turbo, and hit single Turbo Lover, both penned by Tipton.
It is one of some 59 Porsche models up for auction at the third annual Porsche Sale on October 21 at the at Silverstone Circuit in association with the world's biggest car club, Porsche Club GB.
Another rock guitarist, from cult band Whitesnake, is also presenting a Porsche at the sale, this time a Dark Metallic Blue 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Supersport Targa with an estimate of £48,000 - £54,000.
And one of the rarest cars on offer is a 1992 Porsche 911 (964) RS Touring, one of only six UK-supplied right-hand drive models in black and with a black interior. Its estimate is £185,000 - £210,000.
