THE new Jeep Cherokee mid-size SUV has just been revealed at the Detroit Auto Show and will be on sale in the UK in the second half of the year.

It comes with a new design along with the addition of an all-new 2.0-litre direct-injection inline four-cylinder engine that increases performance and fuel efficiency.

Jeep says the latest Cherokee offers more interior comfort and convenience with better ride and handling characteristics.

The new Cheorkee is fitted with independent front and rear suspension systems with high body torsional stiffness. A nine-speed automatic transmission will be an option.

Design changes include a revised nose with smoother lines and a new look for the LED headlights, the daylight running lamps and fog lamps.

Interior trim will include satin chrome and piano black high-gloss accents while the new Cherokee is fitted with Jeep's latest Uconnect communication, entertainment and navigation system which has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and the choice of seven or 8.4-inch touchscreens with 'pinch-and-zoom' oepration.

The 2.0-litre direct injection turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine has a stop/start function to improve fuel efficiency.
