FIAT is extending its Tipo range with the introduction of a new S-Design model which is available in hatchback and station wagon versions.

The roomy S-Design is said to combine sporty styling without compromising the classic Tipo qualities of roominess, functionality and flexibility.

As far as style goes, this new version of the Tipo has a distinctive wide grille with glossy black trim which continues around the edges of the fog lights and on the mirror caps.

It also encases the car's bi-xenon headlights, which make their first appearance in the Tipo line up.

New diamond cut 18-inch alloy wheels, tinted rear windows and body coloured handles complete the look.

The Tipo S-Design is available in a choice of five colours including a new street grey.

The inside has been restyled with new 'techno' leather and fabric seats.

The S-Design Tipo comes with a host of high technology as standard, including Fiat's next-generation Uconnect seven-inch HD LIVE infotainment system, fitted with high-resolution touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to allow drivers to access their phone's functionality while in the car.

As far as power goes the newcomers are kitted out with the 1.4-litre T-Jet 120bhp petrol engine.

Combined with a manual transmission, it produces 139g/km CO2 while returning a claimed 47.1mpg on the combined cycle and travelling from zero to 62mph in 9.6 seconds.

The Fiat Tipo S-Design is priced from £18,145 in hatchback from and £19,145 for the estate.
