FORD has revealed the new Ford Edge sport utility vehicle which will go on sale in Europe later in the year and the company say it is the most technologically advanced SUV ever.

It comes with a comprehensive range of camera and sensor-based driver assistance technologies designed to make journeys more comfortable and less stressful, and to help drivers avoid or mitigate the effects of collisions, including the European debuts of postâcollision braking, evasive steering assist, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and lane centring assist.

The new Edge also debuts with a new, powerful and fuel-efficient bi-turbo variant of Ford's 2.0âlitre EcoBlue diesel engine, combined with a new eight-speed automatic transmission for refined cruising.

Unveiled in sporty ST-Line specification, the new Edge comes with enhanced front and rear styling, a wide mesh grille, colour-coded body including deep side skirts, and standard 20âinch aluminium wheels.

The new Edge ST-Line features bold and dynamic exterior and interior styling that includes body coloured lower door, wing and body side mouldings, and a front upper grille with a unique black finish for the horizontal bars and surround, standard 20-inch, and optional 21-inch, premium aluminium wheels, dual exhausts featuring chrome finished tips.

On the inside the ST-Line comes with perforated partial leather Miko-Dinamica seats with 10-way power front seats, leather steering wheel, and gearknob featuring red stitching for manual gearbox models, aluminium sports pedals, a black headliner and premium velour floor mats

It also comes with high-tech kit including wireless charging pad which enables cable-free charging of compatible devices, and Ford's SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system - compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto at no extra cost which enables drivers to control connected smartphones, audio, navigation and climate using voice commands and an eight-inch colour touchscreen.

Equipped with Auto Start-Stop as standard, Ford's 2.0-litre EcoBlue engine also is offered for the new Ford Edge as a 190bhp version combined with manual six-speed manual gearbox and Ford Intelligent All Wheel Drive and a 150bhp version combined with Ford's new eight-speed quick shift automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive.

The all-new Edge will be offered to customers in upscale Vignale, Titanium and Trend models, in addition to the sporty ST-Line.
