FEW petrolheads will ever forget Steve McQueen's iconic movie Bullitt - now Ford has developed a new special-edition version of the equally legendary Mustang to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Warner Bros film.

Shown for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show and due to go into production in June, the new Mustang Bulllitt special edition was unveiled with the support of third-generation members of the McQueen family, Chase and Madison McQueen.

Under the bonnet it features Ford's 5.0-litre V8 engine enhanced to deliver an anticipated 464PS and 529Nm of torque and there's new rev-matching technology for seamless gear changes. The Bullitt will be offered with a choice of Shadow Black or classic Dark Highland Green exterior colours.

"Our special edition Mustang Bullitt evokes a unique heritage we're proud to share with the McQueen family, and are excited to offer for customers in Europe for the first time," says Steven Armstrong, group vice president and president, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Ford Motor Company.

The Geneva show also brought the European debut of a new model at the other end of the Ford range in the shape of the new KA+ Active five-door model which comes with rugged bodystyling, raised ride-height and unique chassis tuning along with a unique front grille design, exclusive interior finishes and a high-level standard equipment specification.

Also on show is the new Edge SUV which Ford says is its most technically advanced SUV ever, with a comprehensive range of camera- and sensor-based driver assistance technologies. The new Edge also sees the European debut of a new powerful and fuel-efficient 238PS bi-turbo variant of Ford's 2.0âlitre EcoBlue diesel engine which is combined with a new eight-speed automatic transmission.

Ford's Geneva stand also features the comnpany's completely renewed, dynamic and stylish Tourneo people-mover line-up.
