IF something's labelled as ‘Ultimate' you're going to expect a lot for your money.

And that's what SsangYong is offering with a new, very limited edition version of its first-ever compact SUV, the Tivoli.

Powered by a 1.6 litre Euro 6 petrol engine, the Tivoli Ultimate is fitted as standard with a six-speed manual transmission with a six-speed Aisin automatic box available as an option.

It's kitted out to the hilt and comes with an electrically operated and ventilated driver's seat and heated steering wheel, plus a front-end facelift including LED foglamps. Further differences over the standard car include a repositioned handbrake and minor changes to the switchgear.

Based on the top of the range ELX, the Ultimate comes with state-of-the-art safety features such as forward collision warning and autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, high beam assistance and traffic sign recognition.

With all that you could be forgiven for thinking there's little more that could be packed in, but this special edition comes with a lengthy spec sheet which also includes leather upholstery, keyless starting, parking sensors and reversing camera, cruise control, electric windows, smart steering, a seven inch touch screen with RDS radio, iPod & Bluetooth connectivity, TomTom navigation, diamond cut alloy wheels and dual-zone air conditioning.

In fact the only option other than the auto box is a trendy Style package with contrasting white or black roof, spoiler and wing mirrors for an extra £400.

It's available to order now priced at £17,495 for the manual version or £18,745 with automatic transmission. At that price it's a case of Ultimate by name and Ultimate by nature.
