HYUNDAI has given its' popular i20 five door model a mid-life facelift and the new 2018 range will also offer more high-tech safety and convenience features.

Five door versions get a new-look front end featuring the brand's trademark ‘cascading' grille and redesigned bumpers. At the back, the bumpers and rear combination lamps have also been remodelled as has the tailgate which now incorporates the number plate. The 2018 cars also come with new 15 or 16 inch alloys.

The five door is now available with a panoramic sunroof while the latest model adopts trendy two-tone styling with the option of a contrasting black roof treatment on a range of new colours.

While the styling changes only affect the five door model, new technical features are shared with the sportier three door coupe version, including the availability of a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and an idle stop and go (ISG) system.

There's a choice of three different petrol powertrains but, significantly, no diesel. Hyundai says that the latest i20 range "meets current market demands."

Mid-range versions get a new seven-inch audio display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while Premium and Premium SE Nav models will come with a seven-inch screen infotainment system which integrates all navigation, media and connectivity features and supports Live Services as well as i-Phone or Android connectivity.

The latest active safety and driver assistance systems are now fitted as standard on SE models and above and include lane departure warning and lane keeping assist systems, autonomous emergency braking, driver attention alert and high beam assist.
