A THIRD engine is being introduced by Mitsubishi to power its Outlander SUV.

A 2.0-litre petrol engine developing 150ps is being introduced on the model and will come with a CVT automatic transmission.

The new powertrain joins the diesel and plug-in hybrid versions and will be priced from £27,680 in Juro trim or £29,680 for an Outlander 4.

Under the new WLTP fuel economy measurements it is rated at 32.5mpg with emissions of 196g/km.

Performance data is 0 to 60 acceleration of 13.3 seconds with a top speed of 118mph.

As with all Mitsubishi Outlanders, the new petrol model is equipped with electronically-controlled 4WD and is fitted out as a seven seater.

Boot space ranges from 520 litres in five seat configuration to 1,608 litres with all rear seats folded.

Other standard features include heated front seats, automatic lights and wipers, rear view camera and keyless operation.

There are also paddle shifters for manual gear changes if required.

Outlander 4 specification adds leather seats with electric driver's seat adjustment, a 360 degree camera, heated steering wheel, power tailgate, blind-spot warning with rear cross traffic alert along with LED headlamps with LED high beam and LED front fog lamps.
