THE new flagship version of Fiat's 124GT is now available in the UK, following its launch at the Geneva motor show earlier this year.

Buyers interested in this new Abarth-badged version will need to get their skates on, however - only 50 of them are being made available to British buyers.

Priced at £33,625 the Abarth 124GT comes with a carbon fibre roof, 17-inch, OZ ultra-light alloys, a Bose sound system and a visibility pack including dusk and rain sensors, rear parking sensors and adaptive front LED headlights.

The carbon fibre roof weighs a mere16kgs, maintaining the optimum 50:50 weight distribution of the 124. The removable hard top is lined on the inside to guarantee thermal insulation and soundproofing and has a large rear window with defroster.

The Abarth 124GT also comes equipped with a tuned exhaust system and a mechanical self-locking differential for greater traction.

Power comes from Fiat's 1.4-litre, 170hp turbocharged engine which offers a top speed of 144mph with a 0-62mph sprint time of 6.8 seconds. Auto transmission is available as an option.
