Ford Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth 4X4, 1992

AN amazing selection of classic fast Fords will be on offer at the Classic Car Auctions' season finale on December 1 at the Warwickshire Event Centre.

Highlights of the range being auctioned at the Leamington Spa sale include a 1992 Ford Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth 4X4, a rare 1986 Ford Tickford Capri and an incredibly low mileage 1985 Ford Escort 1.6L Cabriolet.

The Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth 4X4 is finished in a shade of Nouveau Red with a Raven Black leather RS interior and has covered just 28,000 miles. Powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, this totally original unmodified ‘Cossie' has an estimate of £25,000 to £30,000.

"As the definitive everyman classic, fast Fords always have a great appeal at our sales," said Simon Langsdale, classic car specialist at Classic Car Auctions. "Fast Fords have an incredibly dedicated audience of enthusiasts. The appeal of cheap, usable speed is completely understandable and always makes them the cars to watch when they cross the auction block at our sales."

One of only 80 cars built, the rare 1986 Ford Tickford Capri in the sale is estimated at £18,000 to £22,000.

Smartly finished in gloss black with a Grey half-leather Recaro interior, the car has covered 56,900 miles. The Tickford was fitted with afront mounted turbocharger, rear disc brakes, Bilstein dampers, and a limited slip differential, desirable extras include a stainless steel exhaust, an £800 option at the time.

Another classic Ford in the sale is a 1985 Escort 1.6L Cabriolet with only 2,964 miles recoded.

The Diamond White model is in 'time-warp' condition presenting just as it would have when it rolled out of the factory in 1985. The car still sits on its original tyres, has its original cam belt and even retains its original factory quality control stickers still attached to the rear boot.

A second Escort in the sale is a 1990 Escort RS Turbo Series 2 in original condition. Estimated at £12,000 to £15,000, the car has been meticulously maintained by the same man for more than 30 years, the past 12 under his ownership. Finished in Solid White with a virtually unmarked grey cloth Recaro interior, the 90's classic is expected to attract attention at the sale.

Standing out amongst the many Capris in the sale is a 1983 Capri 2.8 Injection that has been restored to show-winning condition. Estimated at £13,000 to £16,000, the car has been through a full nut and bolt restoration courtesy of the current owner's classic car restoration business. It is fnished in black with a grey cloth interior and has 48,000 recorded miles.
