MAZDA is adding a new range-topping GT Sport Nav+ trim to its popular CX-5 SUV range along with a series of revisions to its siblings.

The new model sits above the existing Sport Nav+ and gets a substantial amount of extra kit including 19-inch alloy wheels, a seven-inch colour display between the dials, a higher grade of leather trim and LED ambient lighting.

The front seats gain ventilation and the rear seats are now also heated.

Other upgrades include a mix of wood and satin chrome trim, a new steering wheel with special stitching, black roof lining and a frameless rear view mirror.

A safety pack offered as an option on lesser models is standard on the new flagship model which includes LED headlights, a driver alert system, smart city brake support as well as a 360 degree surround view camera.

Every CX-5 now gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard as well as dual climate control for 2019.

Sport Nav+ models are boosted by a reversing camera, electrically adjusted driver's seat, keyless entry, heated front seats and steering wheel as well as a head-up display and a powered tailgate.

The CX-5 is already one of the sharpest SUVs to drive and Mazda has made a number of suspension modifications to improve its dynamics further.

Manual and automatic gearboxes are also available and the range is now priced from £25,595 to £37,195 with deliveries starting in February.

Commenting on the launch of the updated 2019 CX-5, Mazda Motors UK managing mirector, Jeremy Thomson said: "the CX-5 showcases how Mazda can make an SUV that's stylish, great to drive and capable of luring customers from premium badged rivals. The updates last year introduced new levels of sophistication to our large SUV, and the 2019 model ensures Mazda's love of driving is even more apparent in the CX-5's outstanding balance of ride and handling.

"The fact that over 80 per cent of CX-5s sold in the UK are Sport Nav+ trim shows that our customers value the superb blend of luxury and equipment offered by our high grade models, so with the introduction of the GT Sport Nav+ we now have a new model that offers even more exclusivity and interior comfort for discerning SUV buyers."
