THERE'S something to be said for a light commercial that looks exactly like a car - and even more to be said for one that looks like a thoroughly-capable, well-equipped, all-wheel-drive SUV.

The new commercial version of the Mitsubishi Shogun Sport is all of those things - stylishly good looking with full off-road capability and the ability to swallow plenty of cargo. All it lacks are a couple of back seats.

Based on the Shogun Sport 4 SUV, the Commercial version has a flat rear load area that measures 1,920mm long, 1,000mm wide between the rear wheel arches and 1,040mm high with a total load area of 1,488 litres VDA. Maximum load capacity is 605KG and braked towing capacity is 3.1 tonnes.

The Commercial's Super Select II 4WD system is the same as the passenger vehicle and comes with an off-road terrain selector with settings for gravel, mud/snow, sand and rock. Low ratio transfer gearing is also selectable for when the terrain becomes demanding and this is complemented with a lockable centre and rear differential and hill descent control.

Equipment levels are high with 18-inch alloy wheels, 360 degree camera, heated leather seats, LED headlamps and a keyless operation system all fitted as standard.

The audio system features Apple CarPlay & Android Auto compatibility along with Bluetooth connection, DAB radio and a 510W speaker system, two USB connections and a 3-pin plug socket. Safety features such as forward collision mitigation, blind spot warning and trailer stability assist are also standard.
