YOU won't be able to get your hands on one until early next year, but you could be first in the queue to drive the all-new Peugeot 208 for the sake of putting down a £500 deposit which is fully-returnable if you change your mind.

According to the company there is already an unprecedented level of interest in the all-new supermini which will be the company's first to be available with zero-emission electric drive as well as conventional petrol and diesel power.

On the day of the car's world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, a customer contacted their local UK Dealer, and placed a deposit on the electric e-208 before the official reservation site had even opened!

And even though the order book is not due to open until late summer, the level of interest so far has led to Peugeot launching the scheme through which potential buyers can reserve a car online with a £500 deposit.

Eager buyers can place a deposit on the GT Line PureTech 100 S&S 8-speed automatic, BlueHDi 100 6-speed manual or the 100 per cent electric e-208 model.

Prior to the actual opening of orders, customers who put down a deposit will be contacted to confirm their order and once demonstrators arrive in the UK, they will be invited to be the first to try the new 208. They will have up to seven days to cancel their order should they subsequently change their minds and have the £500 deposit fully refunded.

The company has opened what it calls a ‘lite' showroom on line () with information, video and photos of the new model where potential buyers can either simply register their interest or put down the £500 deposit to reserve the model of their choice.
