REFRESHED and updated versions of Renault's largest SUV, the Koleos, have been revealed in France and will be on sale in the UK next month, when prices will be announced, with first deliveries expected in October.

The latest Koleos range comes with new engines, cosmetic enhancements and several technology upgrades and will, according to Renault, deliver greater performance and efficiency, plus improved comfort, refinement and premium appeal.

At the heart of the changes are the addition of two new diesel engines, which offer more performance and lower emissions than the unit they replace. The 1.8-litre 150PS Blue dCi 150 is available in front-wheel drive only and emits just 143g/km of CO2, while the larger two-litre 190PS Blue dCi 190 emits 150g/km of CO2.

Both engines have been tuned for greater refinement and even stronger real-world acceleration, says Renault, with maximum torque being delivered at just 1,750rpm. Continuously variable transmission is standard across the range, while the Blue dCi 190 is fitted with Renault's intelligent four wheel drive system.

Elsewhere, subtle styling changes include new two-tone alloys, a more prominent grille, new chrome trim and larger skid plates at the front along with LED headlamps which are now standard across the range.

Inside, the latest Koleos comes with improved soft touch materials and revised satin trim inserts while rear seat passenger comfort is improved by the addition of a two-stage reclining seat back on all models. Both the seven and 8.7-inch infotainment touch screen systems have been upgraded and now have a full screen function for Apple CarPlay.

Two trim levels - Iconic and GT-Line - are available and standard features on all models include adaptive cruise control, dual zone climate control, keyless entry, ambient interior lighting, hands-free parking and a reversing camera.

Safety and technology also receive a boost, with the comprehensive suite of driver aids strengthened with the introduction of a pedestrian detection function for the active emergency braking system (AEBS).
