AUDI is about to give its flagship Q8 SUV the S treatment by fitting the car with the most powerful diesel engine currently on the European market.
Developing 435ps with a whopping 900Nm of torque, the SQ8 will have a sports car like 0 to 60 acceleration time of just 4.8 seconds.
The V8 TDI engine is mated to a 48-volt mild hybrid system which sees the car come with a top speed electronically limited to 155mph.
Fuel economy data is still to be released.
The SQ8 is due to arrive later in the year and is likely to be priced from around £85,000 - slightly more than the current Q8 diesel range topper.
The car is fitted with active roll stabilisation, all-wheel steering and quatto all-wheel-drive with a sport differential on top grade Vorsprung models.
Styling changes include LED matrix headlights as standard while the interior is mainly finished in black in keeping with other Audi S models.
There's a bold grille at the front while at the rear the SQ8 sporty credentials are underscored by quad exhaust pipes either side of a brightly finished diffuser.
The car also sits on 21-inch wheels as standard with the option of 22-inch rims.
The SQ8 will be available to order from July and first UK models are expected to be on the road in September.
