JEEP is going over to the dark side with a new trim level for its Renegade and Compass models.

The new Night Eagle trim features additional black accents and is designed to deliver a bolder, sportier look to the urban Jeep line-up, says the company.

The Renegade Night Eagle takes the style of Jeep's small SUV to a dark place with the addition of 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels and grille surround, tinted privacy glass, gloss black exterior badging as well as a Night Eagle emblem. Inside the mood continues with black upholstery and gloss black accents on the steering wheel, speakers and gear leaver surround.

Based on the Longitude trim, the Renegade Night Eagle comes with 8.4-inch Uconnect Nav with Apple Car Play and Android Auto compatibility, dual zone climate control and Adaptive Cruise Control as standard. There's a choice of one-litre 120hp petrol and 1.6-litre 120hp diesel engines with a six-speed manual gearbox, while a 1.3-litre 150hp petrol engine version comes with the six-speed DDCT automatic transmission.Prices start from £23,445.

Priced from £27,230 the Jeep Compass Night Eagle offers a choice of 1.4-litre 140hp petrol or 1.6-litre 120hp diesel engines with front-wheel-drive and a six-speed manual gearbox plus a two-litre 140hp diesel with four-wheel-drive.

It's also based on the Longitude trim but adds a gloss black grille, fog lights and window surrounds, dark badgework, 18-inch gloss black and aluminium alloys and a Night Eagle badge. Inside, there are techno leather and premium cloth seats, gloss black bezels and an8.4-inch touchscreen with satnav and 3-D graphics, Apple Car Play and Android Auto.
