A NEW flagship version of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio is arriving in the UK and it will wear Alfa's historic Turismo Internazionale badge - a name synonomous with the Italian car's past as a true GT model designed for covering large distances in comfort and style.

Abbreviated to Ti- presumably to keep badging costs down - the new top of the range Stelvio replaces the Milano Edizione as the range-topping model and costs from £47,345.

It comes with additional carbon fibre accents, sports suspension and plenty of technology as standard. The carbon fibre grille and wing mirrors are complemented by dark Stelvio and Q4 badges, red brake calipers and new 20-inch alloy wheels, exclusive to the Ti.

Inside there's a leather dashboard and laminated glass, offering additional soundproofing while other standard features include a hands-free tailgate, active cruise control and frequency selective damping. Active suspension is available as an option.

A pair of two-litre powerplants are offered - a 280hp petrol and 210hp diesel - the former capable of powering the Ti from zero to 60mph in less than 5.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 143mph. The diesel engine also delivers impressive performance, ticking off the 0-60 sprint in under 6.6 seconds before going on to a top speed of 134mph.

Both units are built entirely from aluminium with a carbon fibre drive shaft and are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
