A LIMITED edition run of Mazda's MX-5 roadster is being released, complete with a special paint finish, upgraded interior and stylish alloy wheels.

Priced from £27,700 - a £1,500 premium over the 1.5-litre model on which it is based - only 150 examples of the MX-5 R-Sport will be produced for the UK.

The special two-seater comes with a grey polymetal paint job, a grey hood and sits on 16-inch Rays alloys.

Inside, there's a bespoke trim featuring burgundy Nappa leather upholstery finished off with silver stitching.

The R-Sport is based on the 1.5-litre 132ps Skyactiv-G Sport trim MX-5 and is the latest in the Japanese car brand's tradition of personalised, limited volume MX-5s.

Deliveries will begin once the current retail restrictions come to an end.

Jeremy Thomson, Mazda's UK managing director, said: "I'm delighted that we can offer an exclusive MX-5 Convertible model to our customers. With it joining the rest of the Convertible and RF models in the line-up, we now have a great choice of MX-5s in our updated 2020 Mazda MX-5 range, which means that anyone wanting to drive a distinctive and stylish roadster can find what they need."
