GOOD things can come in small packages - especially when they carry the street cred of a chic designer label.

Tres chic, in fact, in the case of the new Citroen C1 JCC+ which bears the haute couture stamp of trendy French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.

In case his claims to fame have passed you by, Jean-Charles - or JC/DC as he's sometimes known - is artistic director for the Benetton Group and his past triumphs have included creating a coat made from teddy bears for pop star Madonna. On the side he's also been involved in the design of such items as mobile phones and skateboards.

Now he's turned his attention to Citroen's cute little city car the C1. It's the third time, in fact, that he has collaborated with Citroen, and the new JCC+ special edition model is a follow-up to the colourful E-Mehari Art Car and the C3 JCC+ which he lent his design flair to back in 2018.

Priced from £14,135 and expected at dealerships in July, the five door C1 JCC+ comes with special badgework inside and out, a contrasting black roof, matt black wheel arch extensions, black alloy wheels, automatic air con and auto headlights. The colourful interior includes specially embroidered trim, a scarlet dashboard, white trim around the air vents and gloss black for the touch screen and gear lever.

It comes with Citroen's three-cylinder VTi 72 S&S manual drivetrain and is based on the top-of-the-range Flair spec which means that it is pretty well equipped with central locking, electrically operated and heated door mirrors, powered front windows, a seven inch touchscreen, reversing camera, hill start assist and speed limiter all fitted as standard.
