SsangYong Musso Rhino LWB, 2020, front

A LONG wheelbase variant of the SsangYong Musso is being added to the range making it the pick-up truck with greatest load capacity currently on sale in the UK.

With its load bed extended by 300mm the Musso Rhino now has a total load capacity of 4.64 tonnes.

That includes a 3.5 tonne towing limit and an onboard capacity of 1.14 tonnes.

The new Rhino heads up a revised Musso line up and is available only with a six-speed automatic transmission, priced from £29,995 excluding VAT.

As such it has a 0 to 60 acceleration time of 11.9 seconds and a best fuel return of 29.4mpg.

Manual gearboxes are available in other variants and all are powered by a 2.3-litre diesel engine that SsangYong also uses in the Rexton SUV.

Emissions, under the old NEDC calculations, are rated at 216g/km.

While slightly quicker under acceleration - 0 to 60 is 11.3 seconds - the manual models have lower total payload capacities of 4.3 tonnes.

The line up is priced from £21,995 for an entry level SE Musso which is manual only with mid-range Rebel and Saracen models priced from £24,496 and £26,996 respectively. Auto version cost £1,250 more.

All Mussos are four-wheel-drive and come with a seven year/150,000 mile warranty.
