THE 60 anniversary of the legendary Jaguar E-Type is being marked by a special edition of its spiritual successor, the F-Type.

The F-Type Heritage 60 Edition model is being produced by Jaguar's specialist SV Bespoke team and is based on the 575ps all-wheel-drive R variant of the sports car.

It's priced from £122,500 and will be available in both coupe and roadster body styles, each finished in a Sherwood Green paint job that has not been used by the company since the E-Type's heyday in the 1960s.

Only 60 examples will be produced and will be coming at the same time as Jaguar's Classic division will be releasing six restored 3.8-litre E-Types which are in tribute to two of the most famous models, the prototype coupe and roadster - registered 9600 HP and 77 RW - which were first seen at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961.

The Heritage 60 Edition cars also include special interiors with features including bespoke duo-tone Caraway and Ebony Windsor leather, an E-Type-inspired aluminum console finisher and a SV Bespoke commissioning plaque.

Mark Turner, commercial director of Jaguar SV Bespoke, said:"Celebrating 60 years of the iconic Jaguar E-Type is the perfect moment to create our first-ever SV Bespoke limited edition - and the rarest F-Type, with just 60 cars available globally.

"We've worked closely with Jaguar Design to develop a theme for the F-Type Heritage 60 Edition that pays homage to the E-Type in a contemporary way. It's testament to Jaguar's sports car design lineage that the 1960s Sherwood Green colour looks as though it was designed for today's F-Type."

Performance of the special is exceptional and the car's supercharged V8 engine endows it with a 0 to 60 acceleration time of just 3.5 seconds and a maximum electronically limited to 186mph.

The cars are being built at Jaguar's Castle Bromwich plant in Birmingham and finished by the SV Bespoke team at the Jaguar Special Vehicle Operations facility in Warwickshire.
