Cupra Leon VZ3

A HOT new Spanish flyer is on the way to the UK courtesy of SEAT's sporty Cupra sub-brand.

With prices starting from £35,660 for the VZ2 version, dealers have already opened the order books for the latest Cupra variant of the Leon hatchback which comes with a 296bhp two-litre engine and impressive performance credentials.

The turbocharged VW Group power unit is mated to a DSG dual-clutch, auto transmission and produces 400Nm of torque - good for a top speed of 155mph with the 0-60mph sprint ticked off in less than 5.7 seconds.

As well as an increase in power output over its predecessor, the latest Cupra Leon is also more efficient, returning up to 37.2mpg on the combined WLTP cycle and CO emissions from 171g/km.

The power train offers four driver selectable modes which provide changes to throttle response and gear shifts while speed sensitive power steering and dynamic chassis control are also included in the package.

As standard, the VZ2 version comes with a number of performance upgrades including 19-inch machined black and silver alloy wheels, sports bumpers, black brake calipers, black headlining, chrome and copper interior detailing, a flat-bottomed perforated leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles, sports bucket seats and a rear diffuser with oval quad exhaust pipes.

There's also a comprehensive selection of technology including a digital cockpit, a 10-inch infotainment system with navigation and smartphone integration, four USB-C charging ports, wraparound ambient interior lighting, illuminated door sills, three-zone climate control, cruise control with speed limiter, keyless entry and start and a reversing camera.

An extra £1,730 buys you the VZ3 model which adds aerodynamic alloys, wireless phone charging, heated front seats, leather upholstery, a powered driver's seat with memory function and a heated steering wheel.
