THE Rolls-Royce Phantom has gone to infinity and beyond in the shape of an uber-luxury collection of special models which are designed around what the company calls ‘various aesthetic and intellectual themes relating to time and the cosmos.'

The startling interior trim design of the Phantom Tempus Collection models features dramatic fibre optic lighting in the headlining and door trims which the company says reflect a ‘rare astronomical phenomenon, the pulsar, unknown until 1967 and found only in the deepest reaches of space.'

Apparently, the nearest pulsar to be discovered so far is 280 light years, or 1,680 trillion miles, from Earth.

Only 20 examples of the Phantom Tempus Collection are being produced by Rolls Royce - all painted in a bespoke Kairos Blue mica paint finish. Buyers will be able to personalise the iconic bonnet-mounted Spirit of Ecstasy figurine with a unique date and location of particular significance - such as a wedding or christening - engraved on the base of the iconic.

As a finishing flourish there's a champagne chest in the back which houses thermal flasks for chilling both champagne and caviar, four hand-blown crystal champagne flutes and a mother-of-pearl caviar spoon.

According to Rolls Royce chief executive, Torsten Muller-Otvos: "Phantom Tempus is a motor car for those who shape the world as they seek their own place in the universe. They understand that whatever our individual gifts, talents and opportunities, we're all given Time - and it is up to us to make the most of every moment."

All 20 examples have been sold to the rich and famous at undisclosed prices - but you can bet your bottom dollar that the cost of each will be far from infinitesimal.
