A GLIMPSE of what Volkswagen's new small crossover SUV coupe will look like has been given by the German car maker ahead of its European premiere.

The Taigo is a small, sporty crossover which will be smaller than the likes of VW's T-Roc in its current SUV range.

A series of sketches showing the Taigo's design have been released ahead of its debut in the summer.

The Taigo will be powered by VW's TSI petrol engines and will come with LED headlights as standard as well as a fully digital cockpit and a multitude of assistance systems.

The Taigo is based on the Volkswagen Nivus model from Brazil, and will be manufactured for the European market in Pamplona, Spain.

The new compact SUV is slated to be on general release in Europe by the end of 2021.
