VOLKSWAGEN is continuing its roll out of electric vehicles with its second ID model which will be priced from £41,570.

The ID.4 follows on from the smaller ID.3 and will have a range of up to 323 miles on a full charge.

Three variants will be available with mid-range ID.4 Family Pro Performance models priced from £45,520 and top specification Max Pro Performance cars from £49,990.

All have a top speed of 99mph and a 0 to 62 acceleration time of 8.5 seconds although the range is reduced for the higher grade models with the Max Pro capable of 314 miles.

VW says the ID.4 can regain up to 199 miles of range from a rapid charger in 30 minutes while a full charge from a 7.2 kW home charger takes around 11 hours.

Charging to 80 per cent capacity from a DC charge point takes some 38 minutes.

The German car maker says it will be expanding the ID.4 line up further in the coming months with an entry-level model that will be priced from less than £32,000 after the low emission grant.
