VOLKSWAGEN has given a sneak preview of its latest hot Polo GTI ahead of its reveal in June.

A sketch of the car has been released showing its design which incorporates a large front air scoop stretching across the body below the bumper.

The latest GTI - which will be an alternative to the likes of the Ford Fiesta ST - is likely to arrive in the UK in 2022 and will follow the launch of a new-look model which is due later this year.

The new range topper will be revealed to coincide with the traditional VW GTI annual meet which normally takes place in Worthersee, Austria, every June but has been postponed due to the Covid pandemic.

Details are still to be announced but it is likely the GTI will be powered by a slightly more powerful 2.0-litre turbo engine and - like the regular new Polo - will feature updated interior features similar to those of the latest Golf.
