DS - the premium offshoot of Citroen - is to launch a top specification special to mark the arrival of its new DS 4 mid-sized SUV in the UK.

The La Premiere grade DS 4 will kick off the new model line up when it arrives later in the year and will be priced from £39,950.

The limited edition model will sit at the top of the DS 4 line up of which further details are still to be announced.

It will be available with a plug-in hybrid E-Tense powertrain or with a conventional 225 horsepower PureTech petrol engine.

The plug-in develops similar power and the company says it has a zero emission range of more than 30 miles on a full charge.

High on onboard technology, the car features a head-up display and the DS Iris system which allows drivers to use the infotainment system vis gesture control as well as voice control and a touchscreen set up.

The La Premiere car also comes with LED matrix headlamps and active scan controlled damping suspension as well as semi-autonomous drive modes and the option of a night vision system.

Full details and specifications of the entire DS 4 range are still to be announced and the car will be joining the DS 7 Crossback, the DS 3 Crossback and the new DS 9 saloon in the company's line up.
