A LOW emission version of the Volkswagen Tiguan is being released with the arrival of a plug-in hybrid variant with a claimed fuel economy of up to 176.6mpg and emissions of 38g/km.

The Tiguan eHybrid will be available in three trim levels and priced from £35,515 in Life specification, £37,780 for Elegance models and £38,120 for top specification R-Line versions.

All are fitted with a six-speed DSG semi-automatic gearbox and come with a 1.4-litre petrol engine mated to an electric motor with a total power output of 245ps.

Performance figures are a 0 to 62mph acceleration of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 127mpg with a zero emission range of up to 30 miles on a full charge.

All models feature three zone automatic climate control, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors a sat nav infotainment system.

LED matrix headlights with multiple lighting modes for different driving environments and scenarios also feature as standard on the Tiguan eHybrid Life and Elegance. These a and are options on R-Line models.

Standard features on the sportier R-Line version includes roof spoiler; different front and rear bumpers and wheel arch extensions; black roof lining and R-Line badging across the interior; as well as the same ambient lighting, keyless entry, Digital Cockpit Pro, rear traffic alert and predictive cruise control features fitted to Elegance models.
