AN upgraded Volkswagen Polo is coming to the market and will be priced from £17,885 for a version in a new entry level Life trim.

When fitted with a 95ps TSI engine it will come with adaptive cruise control, VW's digital cockpit and some autonomous driving features.

That version is priced from £18,825 with the base model powered by a 80ps engine.

The new seven model range tops out from £23,355 for a sportier 110ps model fitted with a seven-speed semi-automatic DSG transmission.

A high-performance Polo GTI will arrive at a later date leaving the 110ps variant with its 0 to 62mph acceleration time of 10.4 seconds as the quickest of the range.

Official fuel economy ranges from 54.3mpg for the 95ps engine with emissions from 118g/km to 50.4mpg for the DSG R-Line version which has a CO2 rating of 128g/km.

With an equipment list containing more features than the outgoing Polo, the enhanced model introduces big-car technology to the compact Volkswagen.

Mid-grade Style models, priced from £20,785, are powered by the 95ps 1.0-litre turbo engine and include LED matrix headlights, parking sensors front and rear, a 10.25-inch dashboard display and a sat nav infotainment system.

Top specification R-Line models have sporty bumper designs, quad exhausts and sit on 16-inch alloys.
