MG is upgrading its ZS EV all-electric SUV with fresh styling and a bigger battery pack which increases its range up to 273 miles on a full charge.
The new model will be arriving in November when pricing details will also be announced. The current ZS EV with its 44.4kWh battery costs from £28,595.
With a 72kWh battery and a new connectivity system which improves the car's infotainment system the ZS can be recharged in 10.5 hours on a standard 7kW charger, or just 42 minutes on a 100kW rapid charger.
It extends the range from 163 miles on the current car and MG says a version with 51 kWh battery with a 198-mile range will join the line up next year.
In styling terms, the new MG ZS EV gets an electric-only front end, with a stamped-effect grille to improve aerodynamics and a new side-opening charging port. The face is set off by LED headlights and daytime running lights.
At the rear there is a redesigned bumper and model will be offered in a choice of two trim levels as well as two new names, SE and Trophy.
The latest MG ZS EV also comes with a new state-of-the-art iSMART connectivity system, which offers a connection via a smartphone app through which various car, climate, security and charging functions can be controlled remotely.
It uses a 10.1-inch tablet-style touchscreen, with new graphics and improved functionality. The new model also gets a new instrument cluster and on the Trophy version, wireless phone charging.
MG currently offers six models in the UK including three plug-in cars - the MG ZS EV, the MG5 EV estate and the MG HS Plug-in Hybrid.
