KIA has revealed its new Niro crossover ahead of its launch next year and it will be available with three powertrains - hybrid, plug-in and pure electric.
The new model has a radical design shift and features a fresh look to the brand's signature ‘tiger' nose with slimmer elements while at the rear there is a new light signature featuring ‘boomerang' shaped tail lights.
On the plug-in model Kia is introducing a Greenzone drive mode which automatically switches to pure EV driving when it is in certain areas.
The system uses navigation data and the vehicle's driving history to select such areas such as residential areas, schools, hospitals and low emission zones.
Significant changes are also made to the cabin where the dashboard now has curved lines and a large central display screen above a clean-cut control panel.
Other eco features include headlining that is made from recycled wallpaper, seats made with material taken from eucalyptus leaves and a special paint on the door panels to minimise the impact on the environment and reduce waste.
The new Niro was unveiled at the Seoul Mobility Show in Korea and the car is due for release next year.
Prices and full specifications will be announced later.
