A HIGH performance electric vehicle has been announced by BMW as the German car maker launches the latest of its iX models - the M60.

With a power output of 619hp and a single charge range of some 357 miles, the iX M60 is due for release in the summer and will be priced from £11,905.

Performance figures are a 0 to 62 acceleration time of 3.8 seconds and a maximum restricted to 155mph.

BMW says the all-wheel-drive model has a specifically M tuned dual-axle air suspension with automatic level control to give it the brand's characteristic handling ability.

The car builds on the specification of the BMW iX with 22-inch alloys, soft close doors, ultra-bright Laserlight technology and the latest generation of BMW's iDrive display and control system.

The BMW iX is produced at the BMW factory in Dingolfing, Germany, with both the vehicle itself and the battery cells manufactured using green power.
