VOLKSWAGEN will be launching a new electric executive saloon in 2023 with the arrival of the ID.Aero.

Due on sale in China later this year it will be followed by European models to be built in Emden, Germany, the year after.

VW says the ID.Aero will have a range of around 375 miles on a full charge and the car has been revealed as a concept model for the Chinese market.

With coupe-like lines the car is almost five metres long and the car maker says it also intends to sell the vehicle in North America.

The car is the sixth member of VW's all-electric ID line up which also includes the new ID.Buzz and the ID.4 which were revealed in the past few months.

An indication of pricing for the ID.Aero is still to be made but is likely to start from around £45,000.
