SERIOUS Jaguar enthusiasts need to get their cheque books out now, for the last ever series of the company's iconic F-Type sports car has just gone on sale.

First deliveries won't happen until early next year, but the final examples of the high- performance coupe and convertible - which Jaguar strangely calls the 2024 model year range - are sure to become collectors' items.

The F-Type will go out of production at the end of next year and will mark the final chapter in the glorious history of high-powered, combustion-engined Jaguar sports cars as the Castle Bromwich-based company prepares for an all-electric future from 2025.

The F-Type's blood line dates back 75 years to the legendary XK120 which was the world's fastest sports car when it was first launched three years after the end of the second world war.

And to celebrate that sporting lineage, the final series will include two ‘75' special editions - possibly the most highly desired so-called run-out models ever produced by a major manufacturer.

The 75 special edition models are only available with Jaguar's V8 engine with power outputs of 444 and 567bhp.

Although the differences between the 75 special edition models and top of the range 2022 F-Types are largely cosmetic with special badgework and a few interior extras thrown in, even those minor tweaks will mean a lot and buyers are almost guaranteed to see values increase well beyond the asking prices which start at £78,330 for the 444bhp, two-wheel-drive F-Type 75 coupe rising to £108,065 for the flagship 567bhp, F-Type R75 all-wheel-drive convertible.

The special edition models head-up a simplified, eight-model, F-Type range and the only other variants on offer comes with Jaguar's 300PS, two-litre turbocharged, four-cylinder engine priced at £62,235 for the Coupe and £67,825 in Convertible form.

Commenting on the launch of the last F-Type models, Jaguar Land Rover's chief exteriior designer, Matthew Beaven, says: "For 75 years Jaguar has been renowned for producing extraordinary sports cars that deliver performance, agility and maximum driver reward. The F-Type special editions hold true to these principles, adding unique interior and exterior design details to celebrate this lineage before Jaguar becomes an all-electric brand from 2025."
