SKODA is adding a second all-electric model to its vRS line up of performance cars with the arrival of a battery-powered Enqyaq SUV.

It uses the same 299ps powertrain as the Enyaq Coupe iV vRS which was introduced a few months ago.

With all-wheel-drive and two electric motors, the SUV will match the performance of the Coupe with a 0 to 62mph acceleration time of 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 111mph - faster than regular specification Enyaqs by some 12mph.

With a range of more 310 miles on a full charge Skoda says the Enyaq vRS can be recharged to 80 per cent capacity in 36 minutes from a fast charger.

The SUV measures 4.65 metres long with a wheelbase of 2.77 metres and has a boot capacity of 585 litres which can be expanded to 1,710 litres with the rear seats folded.

With a vRS interior and sports suspension, the Enyaq iV vRS is based on parent company Volkswagen's MEB platform and will be built at Skoda's Mlada Boleslav factory in the Czech Republic.

Prices are still to be confirmed as is a release date but the SUV is expected to cost similar to the Coupe which is priced from £51,885.
