THE plug-in hybrid version of the Alfa Romeo Tonale SUV will cost from £44,595 when it arrives in the next few weeks.
That's a premium of some £5,000 over the regular model which was released in 2022.
With emissions of 26g/km Alfa says the Tonale PHEV has an electric-only range of up to 49 miles and a total range of up to 372 miles with a full tank.
It is powered by a 1.3-litre turbocharged MultiAir, four-cylinder petrol engine coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels while an electric motor powers the rear axle.
Combined power output is 280hp which give the plug-in a 0 to 62mph acceleration time of 6.2 seconds and a maximum of 128mph. In EV mode the top speed is 84mph.
Officially the powertrain is rated at 217.3mpg and a full recharge can be done in 2.5 hours from a 7.4kW charger.
As the range topper in the Tonale line-up the PHEV will also be available in Veloce trim which is priced from £48,495.
As well as specific instrumentation to show how the vehicle's electric systems are performing, the Tonale plug-in also sees the introduction of four new app-based systems including dynamic range mapping, a charging station finder and an E-control function which enables charging and heating preferences to be operated from the My Alfa Connect App.
