A COUPE version of the new Mercedes-Benz GLC will be on sale in the summer joining the SUV model which was launched late in 2022.

With a sportier body style the new model will be available as a plug-in hybrid with an all-electric range suitable for everyday needs or as a mild hybrid with 48-volt technology.

With a length of 4,763mm, it is 31mm longer and 5mm higher than its predecessor. The track widths are larger, by 6mm at the front at 1,627 mm and 23 mm at the rear which is now 1,640 mm.

Mercedes says the longer vehicle length adds to the wheelbase and the front and rear overhangs. The width has remained the same at 1,890 mm.

With more boot volume than before, the GLC Coupe has 545 litres (45 litres more than the preceding model) to 1,490 litres (a plus of 90 litres) in the mild hybrid models and 390-1,335 litres in plug-in hybrids.

As with the SUV version the interior features Mercedes' new twin screen dashboard made up of a 12.3-inch display in front of the driver and an 11.9 panel in the centre of the facia.

Two petrol and two diesel engines will be offered in mild hybrid models while the plub-in will be available with in GLC 300e and 400e petrol electric powertrains and a 300de diesel.

All versions are all-wheel-drive with the diesel plug-in rated officially at more than 700mpg and the mild-hybrid ranging between 39.7 for the petrol and 55.3 for the GLC 220d.

Prices are still to be announced but are likely to be more than the £51,855 starting point of the SUV.
