SPANISH performance brand Cupra - an offshoot of SEAT - has announced it is to release an all-electric Tavascan SUV coupe in 2024.
Based on the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform, the brand's first all-electric SUV coupe will be available with two power outputs - 286ps and 340ps with the higher power output version adding dual-motor all-wheel drive, delivering performance with maximum traction.
Cupra says the Tavascan VZ can reach 31mph in 2.4 seconds and has a 0 to 62mph time of 5.6 seconds.
With a full charge range of some 341 miles the car can be recharged to add an extra 62 miles of range in seven minutes and can be charged form 10 to 80 per cent in just under an hour from a fast charger.
The Tavascan features a 15-inhc infotainment system - the largest so far in any Cupra model and comes with a 12-speaker audio system developed in conjunction with Sennheiser.
Designed and developed in Barcelona, the Cupra Tavascan will be produced at the Volkswagen Group's Anhui factory in China and will have a yearly target of more than 70,000 sales.
The car features DCC Sport dynamic chassis technology, sport suspension and progressive steering and will sit on 21-inch forged alloy wheels which are said to deliver a unique sporty driving experience.
