THE Volkswagen ID.Buzz electric MPV is getting a stretch turning it into a seven-seater.
At 4,962mm long it has grown by 250mm and comes with a longer wheelbase of 3,239mm giving up to 2,469 litres of cargo space.
There's also the availability of a more powerful 82kWh battery as well as the standard 77kWh unit which VW says will give more range.
Although figures have still to be released it is expected to be closer to almost 260 miles on a full charge.
VW says the new version can reach 62mph in 7.9 seconds and has a top speed of 100mph - up from the 90mph of the standard model launched last year.
The motor in the newcomer has an output of 282bhp and VW says an all-wheel-drive GTX variant is on the way with 339bhp on tap giving it a 0 to 62mph acceleration time of 6.4 seconds.
Other new features of the large electric VW bus include a head-up display, an upgraded next-generation infotainment system, and remote parking via smartphone.
It's also fitted with the largest sunroof Volkswagen has used with 1.5 square metres of glass.
Lars Krause, director responsible for sales and marketing at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said: "In the USA, Canada, and Europe, the VW bus has embodied a unique attitude on life for decades.
"The picture of the legendary T1 Lightbus in Woodstock is unforgettable. The DNA of this symbol of freedom lives on in our ID. Buzz."
Volkswagen has yet to announce prices for the LWB model but it's certain to be above the £58,915starting price of the five seater. The new model is due for release in 2024.
