ACHITTY Chitty Bang Bang recreation is going under the hammer at the H&H Classics auction at the Pavilion Gardens, Buxton, Derbyshire.

Estimated to fetch between £160,000 and £180,000, the "Chitty" recreation's charm is not the only thing that sets it apart.

Its constructionin in 2018 was a work of art, created with a focus on capturing the essence of the fanciful and fantastic original contraption featured in the beloved children's story to a meticulous degree.

This specific example is possibly the only "Chitty" built with genuine pre-WW2 components, further adding to its story.

Notably, this movie car recreation, unlike its on-screen counterpart, is not equipped with flight capabilities.

Lucas Gomersall, vehicle specialist at H&H Classics said: "Being trusted with the sale of such an iconic vehicle is a privilege. The vehicle is also being sold with the FLY 539 registration plate and boasts a handmade, fully operational exhaust system.

The car has been displayed at the London Classic Show 2023, the NEC Classic Car Show, and at various events around the country.

The reproduction of the original movie car, a cherished symbol from many people's childhoods, invariably draws significant attention and admiration from the public whenever it is seen.

Additional highlights at the sale on July 26 include a1910 Brush Model D, a 1929 Lagonda 2.0-litre Low Chassis Speed Model Tourer and the 1973/2021 Lister Jaguar ‘Knobbly' Evocation.

Bids can be placed on the day in person, via online or telephone bidding, or by leaving a commission bid.
