A SPECIAL edition of the Volkswagen Polo GTI is being released with prices from £31,295.

Marking 25 years of the iconic Polo hot hatch just 350 models will be coming to the UK.

All the classic GTI hallmarks are included on the anniversary model - red brake calipers and trim strips, a honeycomb design on the radiator grille and chrome-plated tailpipes - but the Polo GTI Edition 25 also comes with exclusive equipment such as 18-inch black gloss alloy wheels, a black roof and black exterior mirrors.

There are also IQ Light LED matrix headlamps.

The interior is equipped as standard with premium sport seats in perforated black-red leather, finished with stitched GTI logos and black gloss decorative trim with red GTI lettering as well as a ‘One of 2,500' logo on the sill panel trim denoting the total number of Edition 25 models VW is producing globally.

Powered by a 207px TSI petrol engine, the Polo GTI Edition 25 has a 0 to 62mph acceleration time of 6.5 seconds and comes with specially tuned sports suspension which lowers the body by 15 millimetres compared with the standard Polo model.

The system works with the electronic differential lock XDS for added driving dynamics, improved traction and precise handling that have become typical of GTI models.

The 350 UK models also come equipped with mobile phone preparation with inductive charging, keyless locking and starting, heated front seats and a rear-view camera.
