Dacia notches up 8

million sales

Dacia Spring, 2023, charging

DACIA has sold its eight millionth vehicle globally, with the achievement underlining the brand's rise from the national manufacturer of Romania to a major household name across Europe.

Since its expansion began in 2004 it has built a reputation for value for money motoring and its latest Sandero hatchback remains one of the cheapest new cars on the UK market.

It is also about to enter the electric car market with the introduction of the Spring - dubbed Europe's most affordable new EV - in 2024.

When it comes to Britain, the Spring is likely to cost from around £18,000 making it the cheapest mainstream electric vehicle.

In the UK Dacia sold its 250,000thcar in 2023 and this followed the brand more than doubling its British sales in 2022 compared to 2021.
