THE 40th anniversary of the SEAT Ibiza - the supermini that is the Spanish brand's most iconic model - is being marked by a limited edition model called the Anniversary.

Named after the island of Ibiza, the car was a turning point for SEAT and has sold over six million units over five generations since 1984.

The first-generation SEAT Ibiza was the first vehicle developed by the brand without the assistance of a technological partner, drawing on internal expertise and that of partners in Giorgetto Giugiaro for the exterior design, Karmann for the interior design and Porsche for the powertrain.

SEAT CEO Wayne Griffiths said:"The success of the iconic Ibiza meant that some countries recognised the vehicle even before the brand. The SEAT brand currently has the best product range in its history and is now stronger than ever. With the challenge of sourcing semiconductors normalising, sales have grown 24 per cent in 2023, reaching 288,400 cars delivered."

The SEAT Ibiza Anniversary Limited Edition will come in a special grey finish and will feature new equipment as well as a new alloy wheel and design cues including lasered "Anniversary Limited Edition" logos on the car's door-pillar and sills as well as bucket seats on the interior.

The car will be available to order in the UK in the spring of 2024 with full UK specification and pricing to follow.
