A NEW large Nissan Interstar van has been announced and will be on the road before the end of 2024.

The biggest vehicle in Nissan's LCV line up will be available with an all-electric powertrain as well as diesel model.

Nissan says the new Interstar is bigger than its predecessor and will be available in a variety of formats including tipper, dropside and box van.

The electric Interstar-e is said to have a range of more than 286 miles on a full charge and can receive a recharge adding up to 157 miles of range in 30 minutes. A full recharge can be done in under four hours.

The next generation Interstar also has a 40mm wider side door alongside a 100mm longer load area, giving customers critical extra room while the electric version has a payload of up to 1.6 tonnes - two tonnes for the ICE version.

Both the diesel and EV versions of the next generation Interstar have a maximum towing capacity of 2500kg.

As standard, all new generation Interstar models are equipped with a wide range of safety features, including forward emergency braking, drowsiness warning and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Trailer sway assist is also included.

"Nissan's next-gen Interstar is the ultimate ally for essential businesses that keep society running," said Nicolas Tschann, light commercial vehicle director, Nissan Europe.

"With an all-electric version, increased load capacity, and a diverse range of conversion options, we're delivering exactly what our everyday champions - the SMEs of the world - need to keep society running smoothly."

Pre-sales will start in the second quarter of 2024 with the start of sales in final part of the year. Prices and exact specifications for UK models are still to be announced.
